Beginning in August 2005, The Seniors Around Town (SAT) program was designed to offer alternative transportation for Orinda seniors who are no longer able to drive and who may not qualify for the County Connection LINK system. SAT is the only program of its kind in the county with its ease of use, no cost, door-to-door service, and eligibility to all Orinda seniors. Volunteer drivers offer transportation to the Lamorinda, Berkeley and Walnut Creek areas, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

All of our volunteer drivers must complete a thorough DMV and criminal background check along with an orientation/training.

Upon a completed registration, a senior can call our office with a reservation for a ride 48 hours in advance of their need. Our office will find an available driver who will contact the rider directly. The service is free.

Volunteer drivers are always needed. As a volunteer, you decide how often and how far you are willing to drive. The rewards are tremendous; our clients are so grateful to have this option which allows them to continue to live independently.

The Seniors Around Town programs receives generous community support from proceeds at the Annual Orinda Car Show.  Click here for information about the annual event.
